Oh, now really, one banner ain't gonna kill anyone.

I agree with govinda. as long as there is no banner farm, few decent banners are not going to be that bad. we cannot feed our hunger simply with love, we need money too. banners are the only reliable way to get dependable financial support. being purist is great but we can be practical without compromising the value of the forum.

But then I can't taunt the COW defenders with the fact that a place like this exists every time they try to say that all forums have advertisers and bend to the will of the advertisers. Of course having a banner or two doesn't mean you go into the same ethical bucket as a lindenbloom, but the conspiracy theorists and paranoids at the COW will interpret banners as a vote of support for how they do things.

I decided lately that the next time i post on the cow will be the moment that the first page i'm seeing is not an advertisement of any kind.
Tough luck that they pop an ad to everyone who wasn't active for some time first thing

Hey, I’m newbie to this forum as far as posting goes but its proved to be one of the best sources of inspiration and tuition for all things mo graph related. I've got some DV hosting that I don't really use for anything major. I'd be happy to 'donate' some bandwidth and storage it if it meant that mograph kept going. Just let me know. I'm sure some of the regular posters wouldn't mind chipping in as admin and watching the forums, as I’m sure they already do. [anyone?]
It would be a massive loss to see it go, or combine in any way with CC.

dunno if things got worked out already but my 2 cents, sponsorship and/or donations would be ideal. if that doesn't work then i don't mind a non-intrusive banner or two like motionographer. should watch out for the whole slippery slope thing, the Cow and it's columns of banners just grosses me out now.

Just as an update, as far as I know, nobody's decided anything, and nobody's talking about anything. So it' limbo, and while it is a little silly, until someone comes along and can commit and has the tools to make it work, it's a nice pink limbo with friendly smartasses and the occasional meaty piece of info you can't get anywhere else.

I am willing to host and maintain the site if you need. I have plenty of experience with php forum engines. I would not start placing up ads or anything like that. Here is a site I am currently working on, which of course, would no longer be existent if I were to maintain Mograph.
