That "stargate" moiré effect is awesome.
Imagine someone spending that amount of time and effort on a spot like that today.

Yeah, this was great. "It's now automated with computers!!" and the dude's typing in a thousand coordinates by hand. Next in version 1.05: keyframes!

Oh wait, it looks like he is maybe editing the CosaFX shortcuts file?

His left pinky is clearly on "Control" and the index finger is going for the "G".

I started playing with this idea of the superimposed patterns. It's pretty cool! Now, all I need are some LEDs on a motorized arm.
