The bottom of the article has the new features:
http://www.engadget....oshop-cs6-beta/

Finally. Never understood why this hadn't been implemented years ago...
- Allow changing of blend modes for multiple layers at once
- Allow changing color labels to multiple layers at once
- Show correct opacity and blend mode values for hidden layers

Searchable layers, auto and background save are definately helpful. Seems kinda odd to include a super basic iMovie type feature in photoshop though. I guess if you need to grab stills from QT movies? Other than that I dunno.

Tongue biting goes against the primordial spirit Mograph. If there's a need for poo to be thrown I say throw it.

"content-aware" move tool. I'm calling marketing bullshit right there.

Give the user choices regarding how they want transparency treated in OpenEXR on file open

Through gritted teeth ;-)

Seems pretty skinny to me, the UI looks like the biggest change. Would have liked them to have a go at stealing some of Painter's natural media, it's about the only area left where they make meaningful advances.

Those feature videos were fairly evasive... and the job title 'Senior Digital Imaging Evangelist' makes my skin crawl.

Wow doesn't seem to be a heck of a lot in that update. That first article listed grammar as a new feature....grammar wtf?

Grammar
- Policed throughout app
- Use consistent grammar style in the title of dialog windows (no commands such as "Choose a color:")

Where to even start? What's the use of complaining if you have no choice but to upgrade anyway? Play along or lose your investment and be excluded from future upgrade pricing. Which way to the Adobe-monopoly-killer Kickstarter project??

I have been using it all day today at work and I have to say, my number one feature I love is the unified, dark, UI. I've hated photoshop for years with its fucking stupid "floaty windows". Now that its all contained and I can move the entire interface from one screen to the other, makes me very happy. Everything else so far is typical photoshop. Not much new stuff. And all their new features are fairly minimal and some don't even work well for the majority of instances you'd like to use it (eg. the content aware move tool).

I think they have to put in some toys like content-aware move so they can call stick a whole new version number in the title. I don't think I really want anything new out of photoshop besides a few of the aforementioned tweaks. That stuff by itself probably would have amounted to a 0.1 update. The rest is bloat.

One thing I'll be checking out (I haven't downloaded it yet) is the smart object performance. The anti-aliasing in CS5 sucked if you scaled + rotated a smart object. Hopefully they fixed that. We'll see.

Well I just checked it out, and smart objects are still pretty crappy in the anti-aliasing department.

This was made with CS6 Beta:

smart objects render much nicer when exported via "Save as..." dialog or when they finally get imported into AE.

Also, SORTING LAYERS by type/name/style! Anyone who works closely with graphic designers will love this. so awesome!

That's not the smart object, that's the preview of the smart object. It will be totally clean when you rasterise or export it.

... good lord, you're right. Strange. I've never really run into that before. I only use smart objects for vectors, and they've always come out clean. I'm sorry I doubted you.

Regarding Adobe's course these days:

"Adobe is trading on their own good brand for a quick buck. Just makes me sad."
http://www.zdnet.com...-scareware/4681

If only the AE team would leave as a group and go make a competing product.
