Am I missing some obvious toggle or button? My render times are terrible with the new CS6 3D extruded layers, compared to current 3D packages.
Anyone else experimenting with the settings and documenting results aside from motionworks?
I will say however, after long renders and some other shenanigans you can get a nice result, limited to a few "trendy" animation styles, but still does the trick.
I'll post first project after it goes public

Seems like you need a CUDA card for decent render times. I wonder how common they are by now? I know of a few companies who use them, but they all live in a non-mac world.

yeah, having a little better luck on my BOXX machine at work, but I'd rather just crack open C4D for any of this.
It's really sweet for a little 3D in an animatic tho!

I installed a "PC" Nvidia GTX 570 card in my Mac Pro running Lion at home primarily for some gaming but it also has CUDA w/ 480 cores. Haven't done much testing either in AE or Premiere regarding CUDA but I know in Premiere you can just modify a text file called cuda_supported_cards.txt in the app package and add other 'non-supported' (i.e. 5xx on OS X) graphics cards.Seems like you need a CUDA card for decent render times.
