I work freelance in the UK and drink a lot of tea, like a lot of people here. 

When I made tea previously I made it for everyone around me (or in the area I was working in). Now I drink a lot of tea and which meant I made loads! Far more than came back to me. This made me angry! Well, ok, vaguely annoyed very occasionally. 

 

But in my current gig, I've adopted a radical new policy of just making tea for myself with the caveat of not accepting tea from anyone else. This means I can fuel my tea addiction without any further social complications! (I mean, do you just ask the table where you working? The whole office?!) 

 

Am I turning myself into a social pariah and damaging my reputation or am I seen as a lone tea wolf, admired from a far for my uncompromising yet just stance?

That is the exact reason I joined the mormon church, no more complicated tea politics.

What I do is first time at a new office, i'll offer everyone around me tea, but what i'll do is squeeze off a drop of pee into the cups. When they taste how bad it is they'll never accept tea from me again. One time, I mixed up the cups... cough, oh man, that's some bad tea...

 

For real though, the office where i'm working now has a coffee maker, but really terrible coffee. When it comes time to get coffee, i just offer for people to come along for the walk or if I can pick anything up. Most people just come with me, i've never had anyone actually ask me to get anything. I don't know what it's like in the UK, but there isn't any real etiquette for that kind of thing here in the US.

Every morning I bring a gallon jug of black or green iced tea to my desk and drink off it all day until I'm in a violent rage.  If you don't want iced, then buy a mega sized Thermos™ that will last you all day at your desk.  When people ask what it is, it's an algae drink to awaken your chakras.

Oh, me personally, Tiger Semen every day.  But then you would have people fighting over it's intoxicating aroma and sticky viscosity on the tongue.  But Algae.  who would drink that piss?

My personal tea policy is to offer tea to everybody, then go back to work while the water is heating up and soon forget about the water, the tea and my colleagues while fighting with some annoying yet unknown software bug. About an hour later i usually remember the tea, head back to the kitchen, heat up fresh water and go back to work while the water...

 

Then from time to time one of my colleagues, silently serves me a jolly cup of tea without even asking. Thats why i love my workmates and always offer to make them some tea

This is something that has plagued me for years and never thought it bothered anyone else either!

 

I used to offer to make tea and once i'd made a cup for everyone i'd want another one.... and another one.... and... you get the picture. Now I just make for myself and i'm happy with that.

 

At my worst my tea addiction was 15/20 cups a day. I had to cut down for the fact that I needed the toilet every 20 mins.

 

I recently drank 8 cups in 2 hours and not only did I need the toilet loads I actually started to have caffeine induced anxiety attacks... haha.

 

I now drink caffeine free tea and try and only have a few cups a day.

Oh, have had those for sure.  Based on my impromptu poll of mographers at a dinner at NAB last year, I have a hypothesis that a lot of people on this board get anxiety/panic attacks.  Panic disorder usually happens to intelligent, creative, empathetic people.  Anyone like that around here?  

 

I have the tea cravings pretty bad.  Today I filled a full container that once was a "Simply Orange" vessel with Earl Grey and downed the whole thing, then made another.  But my caffeine ups and downs all day make me feel like I'm riding the snake.  One minute it feels like I'm on a cocaine high full of ideas and promise for the future then an hour later slumped over like a meth-head in jail with a thousand yard stare.
