SPIN VFX TORONTO IS RECRUITING FOR
SENIOR MATTE PAINTER
This position is to commence on or about March 1, 2013, or earlier if possible.
JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
DESCRIPTION:
§ Create photorealistic paintings and elements that match concept using 3D and 2D tools and techniques including camera setup, modeling for projection, camera animation and projection setups.
§ Provide or acquire photographic reference materials
§ Integrate imagery and elements into shots, preserving a unified sense of lighting, perspective, colour, and scale.
§ Work closely with the VFX Supervisor to ensure that matte painting elements meet planned concept design requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
§ A minimum of 5+ years previous experience as a Digital Matte Painter for live action feature and television
§ Expert knowledge of Adobe Photoshop is essential
§ Exceptional knowledge of Nuke and basic principles of 3D texture projections in Maya
§ Advanced knowledge of colourspace, digital-paint techniques, photography (including composition), depth, lighting and colour
§ A good understanding and application of perspective in the creation of 2.5D and 3D digital environments
§ Proven ability to meet deadlines
§ Ability to take artistic and technical direction as well as work well within a team environment and in a leadership role
