This hipHop outstrips crunk and gUnit by miles for me - Blackalicious, Talib, Common, Lyrics Born, DangerDoom, The Roots they all have way better flow with their lyrics and better beats/hooks, etc.

couldn't agree more. although i havent heard any lyrics born. any specific tracks or albums a must?

"Lady Don't Tek No" by Latyrx (Lyrics Born + Lateef) is funkier than Rick James in a purple coffin.

I pretty much agree with most of the names... and since we're dropping em, I'm going to toss out a couple Canadians from this area...

Buck 65 and Sixtoo

yeah i got kinda excited when i heard there was a box set coming out. turned out my mate got it and was pretty dissappointed. When i heard about the set orignally it said it was all the herb cds plus a new cd with some bonus new herbs

turns out its not even the set of cds, its a two cd herb mix by doom, and done quite badly apparently, with dodgy mixes and bad levels or something. Plus the bonus herbs turned out to be just old KMD instrumentals. Havent actually checked it myself, but havent wanted to after my mates review.

i get the vibes that doom might be getting lazy or something, or trying to take on too many projects maybe? Im not hating or anything, I love the stuff he puts out. But turns out the beats he did for Ghostface's latest are just recycled old herbs?

whata yal reckon?

I love cLOUDDEAD and Sixtoo.
Does anyone here like Prefuse73?
Do people like DJ Shadow count?
Sorry if this is one question too many, but which RJD2 album is the best to start with?

RJD2- Your face or your kneecaps -illest funkmix EVER...also showcases a lot of his influences...
- Since We Last Spoke - great production, you can hear the Def Jux in it.

Hell yes Shadow counts!!!!
If you like Prefuse check out EdiT in LA and Complex Players Club --they got next on the Glitch Hop...

best RJD2 album by far is Deadringer... check it.

I like prefuse, haven't heard anything except One Word Extinguisher... which i thoroughly enjoyed.

What should i check by Sixtoo if I had a choice?

Thx, DRNZ. I'll definitely check out EdiT during my next Amazon binge.

As for Sixtoo..
Duration has a very nice concept/growing feel to it. It keeps expanding throughout the record.
Chewing on glass and other miracle cures is a much "fuller" album. I personally like it a bit better for real listening. Duration is awesome for working background music. I haven't heard any other albums (not sure if there are).
If you end up liking Duration, I also suggest you look into Amon Tobin's Bricolage.
