Dali's the name... Purebred Pit Bull.
I really LOVE Pits! My neighbor has one, and she's beautiful! Do you know that Pit Bulls are arboreal? LOL...

Or, possibly I'd get a Greyhound from Greyhound Rescue. I've heard they are awesome.
I have a friend who has rescued several Greyhounds this way. They're the most mellow large dogs I've ever seen. Really well behaved with their daughter who's only 1 1/2 years old.

He is a Rhodesian Ridgeback.. another shot posing with a friend:
My dog just passed away this year at 15 years old.... he was a ridgeback/black Lab cross named Quincy Jones... that is one helluva mix, glossy black until the day he died, lean and strong and smart as fuck.
Awesome guard dog too, pretty scary when that ridge got right up...

don't get one unless there's someone around to take care of it.
I agree, many people get a dog just so they have someone to come home to but don't consider if the type of dog their getting is highly active and requires a lot of attention. A big dog living in an apartament that only gets 10-15 minutes walks everyday would not cut it.
Oh and paying $1000 for a dog is just fricking ridiculous.

Here he is on the first day I got him...I loved him so much, I brought him to where I work. It killed me how big his head was compared to his body...It really had me cracking up.

I have a black cat named Sid (short for Sid Vicious). He's very sassy...thinks he's a person. Not a dog, but he knows how to fetch. I like animals more than people...is it just me?

2 dogs, 1 cat.
best. dog. EVAR. she's a corgi heeler mix, and we got her from the pound. ok.. i understand that there may be better dogs out there.. but we didnt train her one bit. she took to her name (cannoli) in less than a day when we got her. doesnt bite. doesnt shit on things. just fucking adorable.
the wifes dog, and he could care less whether i exist or not. he's a saluki + something. shepherd maybe. he doesn't care either.
best. cat. EVAR. but this time, i can prove it. my cat goes shooting with me. yep. i can bring out the fal (.308), set down in a field, and the cat will hang out with my while i shoot. sometimes he cleans himself, sometimes he goes up and sniffs the target. usually he just curls up next to me and goes to sleep.
