  4. Guess it comes down to what you think you can do and time management. I feel for any reasonably priced job I could fit this into the deadline, can always cut corners . I feel clusters would be less effective visually. Love to see you do it though!
  5. tutorial concept based off content I created a while back: http://www.cargocoll...labama-Graphics download the file for best quality results (on Vimeo)
  6. Thanks man! I wish it would be so much fun but I am not. I was just asked to create stuff linked with music and to any relative beat for dub/trance/electronic beat. I forget what they are using but technicians will be running the video and the software takes these videos and there are audio triggers that play certain clips and everything is matched prior to all the sets, different bbms etc. I was told that they can even have multiple layers of video with different blending modes and tons more options. Once I delivered the content I believe they started working out how it would all fit. I was making 2-5 a day and they needed ~30 from me - I worked for about 2.5 - 3 weeks to finish all this. The crazy part was with all the 3d rendering my hard drives were filling up fast. I know I am not the only one producing content so there should be tons more. After all my content might fill about 30 minutes and the concert runs for 24 hours over 3 days. cheers
  7. Doing background content to play behind DJ's at this years Electric Zoo I put together two short reels that display some of the many videos I created. Also I just remade my portfolio. Love to hear any feedback. Cheers.
  8. Yea I am excited to work off a SSD - sadly I have not in the past just because of fears of it failing and me being to poor to buy backups. I watched a friend of mine who has a SATA II drive and how fast everything turned on and I have just decided to go all out. I am starting to agree with SLI not being a good idea, more I read about it more it seems like the payoff is not worth the pain in the ass. I feel like I might be able to get away with 700 but check this out (http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp) after I read up on that and entered in everything I would just feel more comfortable with more, plus people say to not skimp on power plus I only spend an extra like 50 for piece of mind. This was the statement that made me decide the 800: "Electrolytic capacitor aging. When used heavily or over an extended period of time (1+ years) a power supply will slowly lose some of its initial wattage capacity. We recommend you add 10-20% if you plan to keep your PSU for more than 1 year, or 20-30% for 24/7 usage and 1+ years." Its at the bottom. Thanks for the feedback man!
  9. http://secure.newegg...Number=27840688 My main questions are: Is 128 Ram overkill, currently I am just going to start with 64. I can foresee it being awesome for preview purposes in AE I have read that your power source will loose its potency as years compound of 24/7 use. I would say my computer runs 120-130 hours per week currently but that is a 4 core machine. So with this machine I am at approximately ~650W needed so I am going with 800 just to be safe but also wonder if that is overkill. Is SLI really necessary for video rendering? I like using only 1 screen so I dont see why I would really need that but its a cool upgrade option. Thanks for your feedback in advance.
  10. Thanks, I spent about 10 hours over 2 days on the 3d and then like 3-4 compositing it. I rendered out everything in C4D using object buffers on everything. Composited in After Effects. Depth of field was done by hand using just a fast blur on layers that I luma matted with those object buffers. There were two different "tentacle" renders and then there was the hair that transitions out at the end that I used Xpresso and Thinking particles and the hair renderer.

a abstract work I made recently focusing on skills in deformers, love to hear what think
  12. Just some abstract stuff I have been making to increase my skills - love to hear your thoughts
  13. So sometimes in c4d with text I like to separate all my letters in individual cloners/fracture objects or whatever so that I can just apply plain effectors or other effectors so I can really control the movement of each letter individually without doing a whole lot of key framing, or control all the letters with multiple effectors to really get some unique effects with the text - I feel having this direct control gives me more ways to animate text as well as use the delay effector so I am not playing with tons of curves. I dont do this all the time but on occasion sometimes for smaller text in a frame. When I do this it can be quite labor intensive if there are longer words or what have you - basically I convert the text to editable, then create enough cloner objects so each letter can be in its own, then I have to copy the position of the cloner to the same of each individual letter polygon (to keep the letter's psr) and then place the letter inside of that cloner and add an effector then repeat. I was browsing for a while to see if I could find a plugin to do this but I couldn't find one. Also maybe I am doing this in a really unproductive way and there is some shorter way to do so and I am just oblivious. (example below) your thoughts? suggestions? maybe telling me I am doing this completely wrong... would be helpful with a solution cheers
  14. I was most sad at all the work that went into this for the sole purpose of a re-make. If you have that kind of equipment why not making something original. Or at least change up the camera angles/scene/and effects a little - they pretty much did it straight up +1/2 new angles
