  1. Hey, none of these vis are loading for me?
  2. Hey Everyone, You guys have always given me great/constructive feedback in the past so I wanted to get your thoughts on my latest reel. https://vimeo.com/188635084 I'm based in London and hoping to go freelance in the first quarter of 2017 and wanted to see if you guys think I'm up to scratch to make it? Cheers
  3. Hey People, It'd be great if you could take a look at my reel and give me some critique, http://www.mindlessomission.co.uk/ I always appreciate the feedback from here! Thanks, Si
  4. I have tried with a fracture but it seems to stop the soft body tag working. I'm currently using a mesh deformer referencing a cube with soft body which works when keyframed, as soon as I drop it into a fracture and use effectors the soft body doesn't work on the text, it does still work on the cube though. A screenshot of my hierarchy. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ito1saiu32lc5er/Screen%20Shot%202014-10-13%20at%2016.44.33.png?dl=0
  5. Hi All, I've been tasked with matching an animation someone else has done, I can't post the original though as it's NDA. The animation is text popping up individually by letter but as each letter animates up they squash against each other. The animation is definitely done using motext and effectors but I can't for the life of me work out how to combine that with soft body to get the squashing effect. Below is a scene that I've made with the correct motext and effectors for the scaling of the letters but if anyone can point me in the right direction to get the letters squashing against each other that'd be amazing! https://www.dropbox.com/s/8fy0gol48j9irhv/Example.c4d?dl=0 Thankyou for any help and if you need any more info please just say!
  6. I've heard good things about Digitalgurus. I spoke to them myself and they were really helpful but I ended up taking a permanent job so have never taken a role from Digital Gurus. Friends of mine have and recommended them.
  7. I thought this was fantastic. It's so helpful to hear some of the theory behind design choices and see your process. I feel I learnt a lot there and it was great that it wasn't just another tutorial to learn a specific effect, I could apply a lot of this to my everyday work. Thanks!
  8. Thanks for all the feedback guys. After reading through your helpful advice and watching a bunch of videos on Cineversity I am pretty excited to get stuck into x-particles!
  9. I just watched this video which really sold me on X-Particles, it just seems a lot more intuitive. Thanks for the advice Vozzz!
  10. Ha so it sounds like you're in the Xparticles camp. I'll give those links a watch, I have played with TP before and find it quite hard to get my head around. Thanks for the heads up, the only issue with X-particles is making a good case to the boss about buying an extra plugin
  11. Hi All, What with the release of Krakatoa for C4D I feel like I should really invest some time in learning to use particles. I'm just not sure which route to go down, thinking particles or x particles? Or are they not mutually exclusive? I'd just love to get your opinions on them and find out which you prefer to work with? I did have a search through old posts but couldn't find much discussion on it, if I've missed a post please link it to me to read through Thanks!
  12. I'm finding that I've been doing more stereo work lately. A year ago I hadn't ever worked in stereo and now about 1/3 of my work seems to be (although that could be to do with having new clients). The stereo work I tend to be doing is logo treatments for cinema or adverts that will be going in cinemas and tv.
  13. Hi Zickar, thanks for the feed back. Yeah I have modelled the limbs separately as I don't want any bend in them. Vozzz - The background of the thing I'm trying to make was bringing a pixellated sprite to life in 3D which is essentially what Minecraft is. It's a game where the world is made up of cubes and that's essentially it. Best way I heard it described was like lego, you build things, kill monsters etc
  14. I'm worried I wouldn't have as much control using a voxel plugin but the only way to find out is to give it a go so thank you guys for your help I'm going to get playing with your suggestions!
  15. Hey guys, Thanks for the replies. I had seen the voxel plugin before and considered it but isn't that more a way of taking existing geometry and for lack of a better description, pixelating it? Cheers!
  16. Hi All, I just wanted to get some opinions. I made this guy below, http://imgur.com/43E4gXm I wanted to know how you would go about modelling him keeping animation in mind. I originally made it by using a cloner to make a block of cubes then kind of sculpting into it by remove cubes. This left him with a lot of extra geometry inside which really slowed down working with it. I then remade him using a cube split into a grid of segments and taking the relevant faces and extruding them until I had the desired shapes (separate arms, legs, head, hair, eyes etc for animation) but this was a very slow process. I wondered if perhaps I am missing a trick? Anything to speed the process up would be incredibly helpful as the intention is to make a series of short episodes so I'll have a lot more assets to create. Thankyou in advance for any advice You're all always so helpful!
  17. Hey everyone, thanks so much for all the great responses. I'm looking through it all now and feel like I've got some good learning times ahead
  18. Oh ok, thanks so much for the reply! I'll have a look into 3d coat and get stuck into the c4d manual and see what I can learn.
  19. Hey, this free script always works quite well Specially if you double up the type and offset the time a bit...maybe increase the displacement of one
  20. Hi All, I saw this video on reddit the other day http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Rct2sr6mbM I'm looking to push my understanding of texturing and uv maps but I'm a complete beginner to that and wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction to begin learning uv mapping and painting textures in c4d? So far I've always used photoshop and applied textures with polygon selection but I really love the end result in this video and think it would be a good way to deepen my understanding of the whole process. Thanks for any help!
  21. I may have just embarrassed myself by finding the solution right after posting this. Would an inheritance effector do the job? Or would it be a problem that the position of the ring isn't the same at the end as the beginning? I've got this far but it still seems to be in bursts? https://www.dropbox.com/s/jq736whwfmy87sk/Rings.c4d
  22. Hi All, I've been trying to create looping concentric circles in Cinema but am struggling. I'm sure it's one of those things that has a really simple solution but I just can't figure it out. I want the circles to emanate out from a point and move forward in Z space while scaling up. So far I've made a ring and popped it in a cloner then I have a plain effector manipulating the scale and position. I just don't know how to loop it? If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be a real help!
  23. Hey guys, I just wanted to follow up and say thanks for the great advice...it all came in really helpful and I managed to get it all sorted!
