  3. I am a motion designer familiar with end tags and the occasional title sequence. Recently my work has tasked me to animate a 2 minute first person cartoon prototype. We begin in a living room Walk out a door to the backyard where we hop into a fighter jet. We maneuver out the side gate to the main road, which is then used as a runway. After take-off we fly over mountains, observing the terrain, then electing to fly to hawaii. In our new direction the scenery changes to ocean where we run into a group of fighter jets who want to battle. After winning the dog fight we notice Hawaii on the horizon and continue flying to a smooth landing. Originally I broke it into scenes and used tricks like looking up or down to cut. The problem I had was pacing and speed of flight never seamlessly cut together. I then elected to draw a very long long long spline and animate throughout each situation seamlessly. Now Im dealing with the inconvenience of a 500k long spline and the dreaded timing changes bound to come from creative. How would you all tackle this assignment? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, P

  5. hiytrebla, here are a few things ive picked up along the years... follow your curiosity, heart, gut, and natural instinct. do what gets you excited. regrets are few and far between if you do that and listen to those. listen to advice, but take it with a grain of salt. from my experience the advocates preaching for specialism were always generalists. Each was older than I and had completely different set of responsibilities in their personal life. and they always asked questions like "have you seeeen what a flame artists day rate is???" your career is young. specialize in learning. Learn everything. Learn techniques, aesthetics, storytelling and design. Be a sponge. Make things all the time. Try things and fail. Try things and succeed. Then who knows, one day you could find something that grabs every bit of your attention. Then after learning it, practicing it, failing and succeeding you could find yourself waking up and saying "shit, im want to do this all time". high fives. p
  6. Right now I have my two object morphing into each other. But the particles are so geometric. Am I able to have the particles that form each object spheres? Does that make sense or am i speaking stupid?
  7. Thanks for the help Zickar. Very much appreciate it. Finally got the technique. Here is a link to the test. Now time to make something of it. Take care. Peiter
  8. Thank you much! I'll try it out.
  9. Hello all, I am hoping someone can point me in a direction to research a Cinema 4d issue im having. My general goal is to use a song to output a value between 65 and 100. Then I'd like to use that value as the radius of a sphere. It cant effect the size of the sphere, only the radius value. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Peiter
  10. Thank you for the information. Im thinking the smart move will be the 60D with a couple nice lens. Ill update at the point of sale. Much appreciated. Peiter

  12. Is the $600 savings from 60D to 7D really worth it? Financially Im not opposed to getting the 7D, but I really didnt notice a big difference in the side by side comparison. Aside from the plastic case of course. Is that a big deal? Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all. P

    New Site WIP

I posted my reel recently, Reel Posting, but also had some time to make a little cargo collective portfolio. I would love any thoughts on cargo versus what i have currently have posted. The cargo has some updated work but thats moo. Is a personal site still valid these days? Or is it all about a fine doctored template? Current Cargo Collective Thanks all. Luv ya! P
  17. Binky !!! Booya. Great critique. I really appreciate the detail. Calling out individual shots along with explanations truly helps out. Thank you. Quick question to all my teachers/mentors/and all around bad ass' out there Do any of you color grading across your reels, or do you leave the footage as is relying solely on audio and transitions to tell the story? Is it wasted energy to composite transitions from original project files? Rather than using the cut/cut/cut editing style i am now. My lack of work might need this extra attention. The audio Are we digging it? Is it too trancy? I guess you cant please everyone but a properly placed track on a properly edited reel can please darn near everyone. HHMMMM. So indecisive. This is my favorite Work in Progress critique yet. P
  18. I cut out the intro and refined some of the edits. i think for now the audio is poop but it feels like trimming the fat helped. any thoughts? new render
  19. i think its looking great. a few comments. i noticed at frame 1 the lines that a pouring from the bottle are beginning at the neck of the bottle and 1 is outside the bottle which almost seems like a mistake. i think if it opened with the bottle slightly tipping and the lines pouring from outside the movie boundary it would make for a more dynamic first impression. The lines are cool. The refractions are nice. the distortion is interesting. then at 00:40 the look and feel seemed to change. the hand drawn shapes seems a bit disconnected from your initial 40 seconds. perhaps they can be incorporated to the beginning?
  20. thanks dan. i hear ya. im recutting now. P
  21. im not seeing the link. any chance you can relink?
  22. Hi Andrea, I agree with dan, the logo over the work is no bueno. Your work is too good to cover it up. That being said your work is also to good to splice in edits of Jerry Maguire. Lets see it without. P
  23. new reel thanks for the time/ i really appreciate it/ take care. P
  24. Im not technically savvy so forgive me. ha. I simply took the computer out of the box and installed my programs. You are saying I should add 2 more hard drives and "RAID" them? Is this when you install your apps on a separate drive?
  25. Thank you all for the time to answer my frustrated ramble. I really appreciate it. You all have given me a great direction to head in continuing to learn. Take care.
