  1. hi there folks, my first post, so apologies if I'm missing any kind of etiquette here. I'm trying to work out th best tool to track a handheld 'wand' in 3d. The wand is partially wrapped in green tape (to make it contrasty for extraction/tracking). The objective is to replace the green section of the wand with an alien probe type object that will be built in 3d. All the 3d trackers I'm looking at talk a lot about match moving the camera so that objects can be inserted into the shot, but I just want to track the motion of the character raising the wand into shot and out again. Any ideas? I will try and attach a screenshot...

  4. Hey all, Been a while since I've posted here. I'm curious if anyone has had an issue with the new Physical Renderer in v13 of Cinema 4D. Here are a couple comparison frames: STANDARD render: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4757814/c4d/stand.JPG PHYSICAL render: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4757814/c4d/phys.JPG I'm using the basic settings + the indirect illumination for the phys. renderer: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4757814/c4d/c4dphys-settings.JPG You'll notice the following issues: 1) The cap on the sweeps NURBS is offset 2) The material on the globe is incomplete and jagged I thought it might be an problem that I'm running my apps off an SSD drive (an OWC Mercury Extreme Pro). I tried it on the built in hard drive and got the same result. Anyone else have a similar issue or advice on how to better work with the physical renderer?

  6. I am looking for videos that show that white Global Illumination look (usually at the beginning of a project for lighting tests). There are some good examples out there, some that fade from the white to full color, I just can't seem to find them! This is a similar example (though this doesn't fade to color): http://www.zhestkov.com/ (Gorgeous work!!) This is for a architecture/engineering project, doesn't need to be quite this cinematic. Thanks!

  19. This is a self-initiated spec spot for the burgeoning Canadian distillery, Maverick (maverickdistillery.com/), who create the insanely great TAG Vodka. It was made as a side project, directing, shooting, editing, animating and compositing it entirely on my own. This was shot on location in High Park, Toronto, Canada, all on a Canon D70 DSLR during one rainy afternoon. http://vimeo.com/30523639 TAG (tagvodka.com) Sound Design: Robert E. Garfinkle Music: Hannah's Theme, by the Chemical Brothers (buy it here: amzn.to/nS2uWT) My Portfolio (julianvanmil.com) Description In a lush northern Ontario forest, it's about to rain. A flash of lightning illuminates a curious fish in a babbling-brook. The fish has a distinctive black-and-white colouring. For the first time, this 'little maverick' sees lightning above it, and is inspired to do something no fish has ever done. It leaps out of the water and begins its search for the unknown. Its flight through the forest underbrush leads it toward the sky and into the storm clouds where it discovers the product of its inspiration, TAG No.5 Vodka.

  22. http://vimeo.com/26968936 pass: uprising Hey guys. I just finished a 3D project in Cinema and wanted to post the final here. It's pretty simple but I def feel like I'm progressing from where I started in 3D I don't do as many 3D projects as I would like but it feels good when I'm able to do them. I always learn a lot. This time it seems texturing and rendering were the big hurdles. There are things I wish I could of done better. I don't like that the bricks just explode into perfect cubes. I tried playing with Nitro4D but didn't have the time to really make it do what I needed it to do. The texturing started freaking out when I had it set to fillet. Not sure why that was. Had so many rendering issues. Started with GI then went to AO and finally got some kinks worked out where in the end GI worked the best for me. AO just kept looking like crap and taking forever to render. Anyways thanks to all who helped me out with some of my questions.
