Accounting software

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm looking for recommendations on which accounting software you are using.

My freelance business is just me, my computer, and a few clients each month.

I've been kicking the tires on Quickbooks 2012 Mac, but feel that it's too deep for what I need.

Any suggestions on what my fellow creatives are using for accounting software is greatly appreciated.

Best, Jim

Quickbooks Pro. Don't comprimise in that department.

Its not too hard. Learn the basics, and shoot me a message if you have a question. Their community board is great too. You will need an accountant anyway, so do the easy stuff (create an invoice, print checks, enter receipts) and just set everything to "ask my accountant". Just pay your accountant to process / organize your books quarterly, or monthly if needed.

Get Quickbooks, a NeatDesk receipt scanner, and an accountant for a day per quarter + tax time. You will save thousands in properly documented tax write-offs and have complete piece of mind.

*Tip - buy it from the Amazon downloadable software service. Its more like $100 rather than the $300-$400 shelf price.

I'd recommend Quickbooks Pro too.

A good accounting package can act like a good navigator for your business. Once you have a full years data entered you'll probably find the reports and charts it can generate very helpful. It's one of those things you don't realise you need until you've got it.
